    Adolf P. Gobel

    WHITEHALL, N.Y. — Adolf Phillip Gobel, of County Route 10, Whitehall, N.Y., has passed away peacefully after a long illness.

    He was born May 15, 1954, in Bay Ridge, Brooklyn, and was the son of Adolf Phillip Gobel III and Marilyn Louise (Behrman) Gobel.

    Dolf graduated Great Neck South Senior High School, and went on to earn a degree from Farmingdale State College.

    Dolf worked at General Foods in White Plains, N.Y., for many years, and retired from Finch Pruyn in Glens Falls, N.Y.

    He was a Board member of the Eagles Club in Fair Haven, Vermont, where he enjoyed many great friends, and good times.

    He loved animals, and showed this compassion by rescuing, caring for, and owning many Golden Retrievers throughout his life. He was an excellent mechanic who loved restoring and owning vintage cars. His hobbies included collecting watches, antiques, and most anything. He also enjoyed gardening, cooking, and home decorating. His sense of humor was priceless, and his laugh, contagious.

    Dolf will be sadly missed by all that had the chance to know him.

    He is survived by his mother of Westbury, N.Y.; brother, Robert C. Gobel, of Saratoga Springs, N.Y.; sister, Lora A. (Gobel) Zorian, of Brattleboro, Vt.; companion, Kelly Creed, of Rutland, Vt.; as well as his niece, nephews, and many members of the Gobel family.

    Family and friends may call at the Jillson Funeral Home, Inc., 46 Williams Street, Whitehall, on Sunday, December 9, 2012, at 1:30 p.m. A prayer service will follow at 2 p.m. by Pastor Eric Van Leeuwen.

    Following the prayer service, family and friends are invited to the Eagles Club in Fair Haven, Vermont, for a time of fellowship and refreshments.

    Interment will be on Monday, December 10, 2012, at 10 a.m. at Greenmount Cemetery in Whitehall, New York.
