Police investigate four-car crash
BENNINGTON — Four vehicles were involved in a chain-reaction crash Thursday, but there were no injuries, according to Lt. Lloyd Dean of the Bennington Police Department.
Dean said the crash, which was investigated by Sgt. Michael Plusch, took place around 5:15 p.m. at the intersection of Main and Morgan streets.
Meredith Craven, 59, of Wilmington, who was driving her 2004 Lincoln Town car east on Main Street, was entering information into her cellphone at the time, police said.
“With her eyes and concentration being distracted from safe driving, she drove into the rear of Andrew Barrett’s 2005 Hyundai Sonata” Dean said. “Barrett (40, of Bennington) was then forced forward and struck a 2010 Toyota Corolla driven by Jennifer Yannotti, (21, of Bennington) who was forced forward and struck a 1998 Mazda, driven by John Kiniry, (66, of Keene, N.H.).”
Craven was cited for entering data into her portable electronic device in order to make a phone call while driving, according to Dean.
