RUTLAND TOWN — Virginia E. LaChapelle-Barrows, 85, of Rutland Town, VT, died November 20, 2012, at the Rutland Regional Medical Center.
She was born in Ticonderoga, N.Y., on October 24, 1927, the daughter of Mitchell and Bertha (Besette) LaChapelle.
She was predeceased by her husband, Norman D. Barrows, a sister, Evelyn VanGuilder and a brother, Marvin M. LaChapelle.
She is survived by her daughter, Elaine F. Barker and son-in-law, Jerry L. Barker of Rutland; three grandchildren, James J. Barker, Kimberly A. Colomb and Tammy L. Shattuck; ten great-grandchildren, Joseph L. Barker, Corbin J. Shattuck, Dakota R. Shattuck, Justin Colomb, Autumn Shattuck, Chalynne Colomb, Brook Shattuck, Reese Shattuck, Jeremiah Colomb and Blake Stevens; two brothers, Joseph LaChapelle and Leo LaChapelle; a step-brother, James Burke; and several nieces and nephews.
Virginia “Ginny B” as her husband called her, loved baking cookies and candy. She also enjoyed playing bingo, cards and gambling. She also loved spending time with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
She requested that there be no flowers or calling hours. She asked that you just remember the kind things she did for friends and family and not to mourn her passing, but go on in life and keep her forever in your memory and heart, which is where she kept all of us, always in her heart.
