Sugarbush Resort in Warren has pledged to match all donations up to $25,000 that go to support a new Vermont initiative to help those effected by Hurricane Sandy.

“Operation Mountains of Love” is a call to the ski and snowboard community to help support Sandy recovery in New York, New Jersey and Connecticut, announced by Ski Vermont Monday.

The initiative will be launched this week at the Boston Ski and Snowboard Expo, where up to 50,000 enthusiastic skiers and riders will be seeking information and deals for the upcoming ski season.

One hundred percent of the funds raised will go to the American Red Cross Disaster Relief Fund.

“Our friends are going through something that Vermont knows all too well,” said Parker Riehle, president of the Vermont Ski Areas Association. “When Irene hit us last year, New York, New Jersey and Connecticut rallied to support Vermont—they had our backs."

Ski show participants and the public are being encouraged to make at least a $10 donation to the American Red Cross Disaster Relief Fund, by paying online at www.redcross.org or by texting “REDCROSS” to 90999.
