Sheriff proposes
ATV rules in 2 towns
GUILDHALL — A Vermont sheriff is pushing for tougher all-terrain vehicle ordinances in two towns.
Essex County Sheriff Trevor Colby has pitched to selectmen in Concord and Lunenburg the idea of speed regulations, prohibiting intentional tire-spinning and requiring ATVs to be registered for road use.
Neither town has an ATV ordinance, but they allow ATVs on public highways.
Colby says his office has been getting a lot of complaints about unregistered ATVs speeding and cutting doughnuts.
Colby told the Caledonian Record he’s planning to draft proposed ATV ordinances for review by both towns.
