DANBY — Hugh Bromley, 95, died June 4, 2012, at his residence, following a brief illness.
He was born Nov. 14, 1916, in Danby, the son of Delos and Mary (Weatherby) Bromley.
He was a U.S. Army World War II veteran, served in the Battle of the Bulge, received a Bronze Star and was honorably discharged in 1946.
Mr. Bromley returned to the family farm in Danby, where he was a state forest fire warden for over 40 years, a selectman and a library trustee.
Survivors include two sons, Stephen Bromley of Wallingford and Roger Bromley of Danby; six grandchildren and two great-grandchildren; nieces and nephews.
He was predeceased in 2008 by his wife, Joan (Townsend) Bromley, whom he married in Brussels, Belgium; in 1977 by a son, Martin; by two brothers, Harry and Mott Bromley; and a half-brother, Omar Weatherby.
The graveside service with military honors will be held at 1 p.m. Friday, June 8, in Danby-Scottsville Cemetery.
There will be no public calling hours.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Rutland County Humane Society Inc., 765 Stevens Road, Pittsford, VT 05763.
