CASTLETON — The Castleton Community Center offers a range of fitness activities in their new Wellness Center. For information or to register for a class, call 468-3093. Classes being offered include:
Bone Builders – Tuesdays and Thursdays, 9:30 to 10:30 a.m., and 5:30 to 6:30 p.m. A free RSVP osteoporosis prevention program.
Movement Medley – Wednesdays, 4 to 5 p.m. A blend of Tai Chi, Yoga, and resistance training based movements to increase strength, balance, flexibility, and relaxation. Fee: $28 for 8-week session or $4 per class.
Better Balance – Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays, 10:30 to 11:30 a.m.
Chair Dance – Tuesdays, 10:45 to 11:45 a.m. Exercises are designed to increase heart strength, burn calories, and keep the body in motion. Fee $28 for 8-week session or $4 per class.
Chair Yoga – Thursdays, 10:45 to 11:45 a.m. A safe, low-impact, workout that has been proven to increase strength, flexibility, mobility, mental health and concentration for older adults. Fee: $6 per class.
Stretch & Tone – Monday, 5 to 6 p.m. Provides exercises to strengthen and tone muscles, concentrating on the core combined with flexibility.
Dance for your Heart – Wednesday, 5:30 to 6:30 p.m. Features low-impact aerobic dance that increases heart strength and circulation. Participants work at their own fitness level.
Ballroom Dancing – Fridays, 7:30 to 8:30 p.m. Instructors Mary-Ann and Mario Liguori present a new dance each month. April introduces the Foxtrot. Fee: $15 per couple.
