PITTSFORD — Proceeds from a two-hour art sale and silent auction at the Maclure Library on Wednesday night will benefit a fund that has helped Pittsford residents survive difficult financial experiences. The Bowen-Walker Fund, established in 1884, continues to serve as a safety net by confidentially gifting money to help Pittsford residents meet medical or living expenses.

Activities begin at 6 p.m. Visitors to the red-bricked library off Route 7 will be greeted by music played by members of the Lakes Region Youth Orchestra, a high school band.

A 30-minute lecture and video presentation of a Live Iron Pour, such as the one recently performed by the arts group Iron Guild, will round out the night's events. Sculptor Steve Spatz will speak about the planning for an iron pour. The lecture begins at 6:30 p.m.

Event organizer Bob Hooker, a Pittsford resident and artist, said the evening events are part auction and part sale. Forty different pieces of art will be sold and the artist will collect a 30 percent commission on the sale.

For more information, contact Hooker at 483-6739.
