MOUNT HOLLY — A motorcyclist was hospitalized Wednesday following a crash on Route 103 involving a deer, state police said.
Ronald Thellen Jr., of Lowell, Mass., told police he was riding his 1984 Honda Goldwing north on the highway when a deer darted across the road and into his path.
The motorcycle struck the deer at 50 mph, sending the vehicle rolling for about 120 feet and injuring Thellen, who was taken to Rutland Regional Medical Center for treatment to his legs and hips, according to police.
The Mount Holly Fire Department and Rescue Squad were called to the scene and police said Mount Holly resident Jason Marechaux also assisted rescuers at the scene.
