Man returned to Vt. from Fla. to face sex charge

BRATTLEBORO — A Florida man is in a Vermont prison and facing charges that he sexually assaulted a teenage girl.

Last week Windham County sheriff’s deputies brought 39-year-old Charles E. Drake from Florida to Vermont to face charges that include aggravated sexual assault, sexual assault of a victim younger than 16 and lewd-lascivious conduct with a child.

Drake was charged in Vermont last fall.

Police first talked with the alleged victim in 2010 after a sexual-abuse report was filed with Vermont Department of Children and Families.

Brattleboro Detective Lt. Michael Carrier says the victim was in her early teens when she first met Drake and felt that he “lied to her and trapped her.”

Drake is being held at the Springfield prison.
