ROCHESTER — A Rochester man was taken into protective custody for firing weapons on his property, according to police.
State Police received a call on Monday that Van Mongeur, 48, was shooting guns “indiscriminately” in his front yard on Corporation Road, State Trooper Roger Farmer said. The caller “was concerned for Mongeur’s welfare” and was worried “he would harm himself.”
Mongeur was taken to the Royalton Barracks where he met with a Clara Martin mental health screener. He was sent to Springfield Prison and ordered to be held until sober, Farmer said.
